So I woke up and Trump was president

so i live in the u.s. i had family that lived in germany when hitler came to power.

i had family that was in london during the blitz.

being raised as a witness i was obsessed with everything having to do with the rise of the nazis.

Today, I am feeling dazed and a little numb. I know evil exists and is more common then we want to think but, I have met so many kind people since I left. What I've been personally experiencing seems so different from what has happened here. I am not debating ideas about which style of governing is best, I am just talking about humanity, kindness and respect..

I'm not sure what you're getting at, but I felt vibrant and invigorated. With Hillary on the threshold of being President, I was greatly fearful of a war with Russia (newsflash: Putin wasn't joking when he tried to warn the West and the American media and Obama/Clinton treated him like a third-rate Muslim country. Our own military establishment was warning Obama and Clinton that Putin was dead serious, but neither was taking him serious.

We also faced tens if not hundreds of thousands of Muslim refugees from war torn areas of the world with no way of vetting them. This is exactly how France and the U.K. got in the situations they are. Many refugees are fine people, but also many are not. Why is someone deemed hateful for advocating sound immigration policy? Trump also never called Mexicans rapists (that was an invention of mainstream media). He only wishes to enforce laws already on the books.

Finally, as far as I know, Trump has never had anyone killed. The Clintons have been very fortunate in having a sizable number of their enemies commit suicide, have fatal accidents, get beaten up or die in suspicious plane crashes. And having lived through Clinton I, I've seen enough lying, scandal and corruption to last me (not to mention living through George W. Bush).

Having studied a good deal about Hitler, I think you should have no problems making it a Trump administration. You might actually enjoy it.

Hillary Clinton Winning total vote count but loses the Election

do those of you outside the usa find it odd that in a presidential election, the total number of people casting votes means nothing?

there is a method we use here called the electoral college based on each state rather than the total votes cast by actual people.. this is, i believe the 5th time in america's history that the person with the most votes lost the election (the last was in 2000 when al gore beat george w. bush by about 400,000 votes but lost the election).. so hillary (at the moment i last checked) had overall about 200,000 more votes nationwide but lost.. i'm sure a lot of people in other countries scratch their heads when they see this happening.. rub a dub.

Great Tribulation and Trump

please, let's discuss this subject without attacking one another.. it appears that trump has won a victory that no one expected.

is it possible that trump may play a part in the great tribulation?.

there are some who believe trump is one of the most unqualified of men to ever be elected president of the united states.

The Great Tribulation appears to be an event limited only to the Middle East. It's a 7-year period leading up to the epic battle for Jerusalem (Ezekiel 38-39, Zechariah 12, 14, Revelation 11). The Lord told the prophets that He would bring the warlord Gog and "all nations" down upon the city of David, to his own death and their destruction. This warlord would be from the north, some say Russia, others, Turkey. That would seem to eliminate Trump from the equation. And based on Muslim eschatology, I believe Gog will come out of Turkey and a revived caliphate. It's what ISIS is trying to bring about. They see a massive Muslim war and a decisive victory with Israel as an inevitable event. Ezekiel tells us the nations that will be involved and they're all modern day Muslim countries. For such a war to take place, the third temple must be built and the United States must be removed from being able to interfere. So no, I don't think Trump will be a part of the great tribulation.

There are some who believe Trump is one of the most unqualified of men to ever be elected president of the United States. Trump seems to be surprised by his victory. It is as if someone has pushed Trump forward.

Yes, and he may yet go down as a great President. Obama was seen as qualified, but many view him as easily the worst President the U.S. ever had. If Trump surrounds himself as with good people and respects the Constitution, he can be a super President.

What if one of the GB members suddenly needed blood?

You'd have to know each of them. If Jehovah had wanted to exempt the medical use of blood when He gave His law, how would He have done it? He couldn't have! So their argument is ridiculous. If they're really plugged in to the power Cosmic, God could let them know that medical uses for blood were okay, but that "spirit cooking" is out! And if they're not plugged in, what good are they? They're supposed to be the faithful and wise servant, but instead are blind guides leading the blind! They can tell us that government suppression of Bible students in 1919 was the fulfillment of Revelation 11's two prophets being slain on the streets of Jerusalem, but they can't tell the people whether the medical use of blood is permissible. Amazing!

i am an admirer of the work of bart ehrman (and recommend his blog).. from time to time, jws call at my door and invite me to partake in a 'bible study'.

The Catholics didn't actually "give" us the Bible. They compiled the Bible. The first century Christians had an open canon of scripture, not the 66 books we have today. Catholicism also included some apocryphal books that were of dubious value and rejected some books that were originally considered scripture. In fact, the book of Revelation barely made it into the collection, and yet today it's one of the most discussed and written about books in the Bible. Today the sanctity of the closed canon is based largely on an agreed-upon acceptance by which the various sects of Christendom are governed. But there's nothing to keep sects from adding/deleting to/from those books if they see fit. Two books I've never been fond of are Ecclesiastes and Song of Solomon. Neither have teachings or prophecies of value to the church (except the one verse in the former that the Adventists use to justify its soul sleeping doctrine). The scriptural restraints on adding to or deleting from holy writ applies only to the individual books, not to the manmade compilations of books.

1st corinthians 15 12-17. but if it is preached that christ has been raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead?

if there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even christ has been raised.

I'm missing the absurdity. Are you saying that the very idea of a resurrection is absurd? Or are you faulting Paul's logic? Obviously Paul is arguing that Christians who don't believe in a physical resurrection are being inconsistent. If Jesus did not die and if he wasn't resurrected, then the whole fabric of Christianity doesn't jibe. Christian miracles include the virgin birth, the visitation of angels, turning water into wine, the healing of a man who was born blind, the feeding of the multitude, raising of the dead (a type of resurrection) and Jesus' resurrection in the flesh. How is any of this different than leaving the flesh at death and continuing on as a spirit?

1000 Years is Like 1 Day?

anyone else hear about this.

as all j-dubs know, whenever someone complains about how long the "new system" is taking too arrive, they use the excuse that jehovah works on his own time.

quite a few times during the public talks, i've heard speakers say the phrase "1000 years to us is only one day to jehovah" (my parents never stop talking about this).

have the many jehovahs witnesses past and present who have lost their lives by refusing blood transfusions due to the prohibition on blood tranfusions by jehovahs witnesses really got the sense of this statement ?.

Interesting admission given the Lord’s admonition: “Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.” (Matthew 15:14) The GB statement is a tacit admission that the leadership are blind guides. And though that may be, members may still be hauled in front of a judicial committee if they buck the system.

But why?

If they can be wrong in some points, why can't they be wrong about soul sleeping, shunning, blood transfusions and crosses? Or the year Jerusalem was destroyed? They might be wrong on everything!

What good are they if they're not connected? Plugged in?

How can they feed and take care of Jehovah's household if they don't have the keys and the credit cards?

Jesus said He would reject many who claimed to serve Him, saying, "I never knew you!"

So does the Almighty God Jehovah make mistakes, or is the society NOT his spokesman?

the society claims to be jehovah gods sole channel on earth - his spokesman.. if any witness disagrees with this claim, they are branded as an apostate and punished.. but the society has made countless errors over the century, and repeatedly changed doctrines and beliefs.

not to mention the appalling foundation teachings of the organisation's teachings!

so a simple question: is god making msistakes and getting things wrong, or is this proof that the society is not guided by god?.

Yes, so how does the Organization get there? If God never spoke to the GB like Moses and the other prophets, how would they know that the WTS was the only legitimate religious group? If everything is invisible, doesn't that raise any eyebrows?

What Comes After the Watchtower Collapse?

1) there are many faithful jws.

2) there are many men and women who could take control and fill the void if the watchtower collapses.

What makes you think the WTS is on the verge of collapse? Didn't the Organization just lay off some people (not the GB, but the "great crowd" -- it's all prophesied.) But if they got into real financial trouble, couldn't they just tap the faithful?
